What made you decide to write in the paranormal genre and is it also your preferred genre to read as well?
I love the paranormal. I’m a huge vampire and werewolf fan, and wanted to read a book that was dark, sexy, twisted and purely focused on the monsters that make up that intriguing world. That’s why I wrote the New Haven series. Then I branched out with the Demon Gate series. It is the genre that I do prefer to write in. I find that I can really let my imagination fly.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
There have been many things that have inspired me and my writing. Family, friends, fans, movies, books, TV shows and even music.
When it comes to writing and reading do you prefer standalone books or series and why?
I actually do prefer series, because sometimes the story is so good, you don’t want it to end.
Are you self-published or with a traditional publisher and what do you think the pros and cons of each are?
I’m self-published and pretty satisfied with my choice. The pros are being you’re own boss, so to speak. You get the write what your heart tells you. There’s no one to tell you to take that out, or readers aren’t ready for that, etc. You get to be different however you want to be. Of course, the cons being you are solely responsible for marketing your own books. You also have to find a book editor, proofreaders, betas and cover designers. I’ve been very fortunate to have such a wonderful team helping me make my books successful. I’m very appreciative. In addition to that, I also design my own book covers and website, so that helps, too. LOL.
What is your favorite selling platform for your books and why?
Amazon is the biggest and where I do sell most of my books.
If you could co-write a book with any other paranormal author who would you choose and why?
Oh man, that’d be awesome. These authors write more than paranormal, but I’d pick Aimee Nichole Walker, Kindle Alexander, J.C. Owens, Rachel Haimowitz and Lisa Henry.
What can new readers expect to find when reading your books?
New readers should prepare themselves. They can expect the unexpected. They can also look forward to dark, kinky sex, intriguing characters, twisted plots and lots of suspense, love and action.
How do you think social media impacts authors and what would you like to see changed?
I think that it’s imperative for authors to have a link to social media. It’s a fantastic way to promote oneself and engage with fans. I would like to see Facebook adopt Tumblr’s policy. grin emoticon
When you aren’t writing what are some of your favorite things to do with your time?
I love reading, watching TV, going to the movies, chatting with my fans and listening to music. I also enjoy getting out and enjoying life.
What advice would you give to new authors that are just starting out?
Write the story you want to read.
