The Multi Genre, Multi Day Themed Event Interview – Stephanie Kelley

Here is my author interview with Stephanie Kelley for the The Multi Genre, Multi Day Themed Author Event – Paranormal Day. We will be featuring her book Steal the Sun so make sure to grab your copy today!

What made you choose to write in the paranormal genre?
I don’t know anything else. Shapeshifters, vampires, ghosts and things that go bump in the night have always intrigued me.

How many books do you currently have out and which one would you recommend new readers start with?
Currently I only have one book released, Steal the Sun. But I’m hoping to have book 2 in the series with the Sesi family and their associates out this fall. The first chapter of book 2, Touch the Moon is included at the end of Steal the Sun to give readers a sneak peek.

Do you enjoy reading paranormal books as much as you like to write them?
Yes! I love reading them. Two of my favorite authors are Jim Butcher and Kim Harrison.

If you could co-write a new paranormal book with any other author who would you choose and why?
Probably Jim Butcher. Just to step into Harry Dresden’s world even with a brief cameo for one of my character would be such a thrill.

How do you think you have grown as an author from the time when you first started until now?
Even though I’ve only released one book, I definitely feel that I’ve grown already as I finish up writing book 2 in this series. Words flow smoother for me and ideas come a bit faster. I’m not as scared to put words on the page as I once was.

If you had to describe the life of an author in three words what would you choose?
Chaos, uncertainty, exhilarating

Do you have any recent literary news that you would like to share with us?
Book 2 in my series involving the Sesi siblings from Steal the Sun is nearly finished. I am hoping for a fall release. The preview to book 2, Touch the Moon, is included at the end of Steal the Sun. Also, I’m hoping to have a paranormal romance novel out towards the end of the year called Sunflowers & Poppies. It’s a full length novel based on my steamy short story Red, which is also available on Amazon.

How long on average does it take you from start to finish to release a new book?
Umm, I don’t have an average yet. I’ve been working on this series for about a year and a half and have the four books for this series at various stages.

What book or books do you plan on promoting during your paranormal themed day takeover? Steal the Sun

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice when it came to being an author what would you say and why?
Write more and don’t be so afraid to get your story out there
