The Multi Genre, Multi Day Themed Event Interview – Laverne Thompson

Here is my author interview with Laverne Thompson for the The Multi Genre, Multi Day Themed Author Event – Paranormal Day. We will be featuring her book AFTER MIDNIGHT- City of Sin so make sure to grab your copy today! This book is under the name Ursula Sinclair.

What made you choose to write in the paranormal genre?
It kinda chose me really. I’ve never been one to stay within the lines. I’ve always wanted to know what was on the other side.

How many books do you currently have out and which one would you recommend new readers start with?
I write under 2 names currently I have over 30 books out. I’d start with Sea Bride- Children of the Waves by LaVerne Thompson a short story and fantasy romance only 99 cents;  and The Ballerina & The Fighter by Ursula Sinclair a new adult romantic suspense that’s currently FREE.

Do you enjoy reading paranormal books as much as you like t write them?

If you could co-write a new paranormal book with any other author who would you choose and why?
J. R. Ward. She’s the queen of bad ass vampires and I have a story arc that would fit perfectly into her BDB world.

How do you think you have grown as an author from the time when you first started until now?
Oh wow in so many ways. My knowledge and understanding of my craft is more practical. It’s no all about the story telling but the way the story itself is told and then the way it’s packaged and marketed makes a difference.

If you had to describe the life of an author in three words what would you choose?
Insane, rushed, thrilling

Do you have any recent literary news that you would like to share with us?
I have several projects in the works May 19th The Princess Bed a fantasy romance based on the fairytale The Princess and The Pea will be released. A collaboration with 16 other authors called F’d Up Fairytales 17 books will be released on May 19th you can follow us here.  But this is not the fairytale your mother read to you. The other books in the City of Sin series are also coming. I’m collaborating with 3 other authors on that you can follow us here and I’m also in a boxed set with 21 authors called Other Worlds PNR/SFR the pre-order for that will go up June 17th follow me on Facebook to keep up on all of this and more

I’m also going to be at the RT Convention in Atlanta in May so if you’re there come see me on Wednesday at the Butterscotch & Chocolate Event or Saturday at the Book Fair or Sunday at the Round Up.

How long on average does it take you from start to finish to release a new book?
Really depends on the book, not just the length sometimes the cover, getting back input from me beta readers editors. But the fastest I’ve got a book started and published was 3 months and that was less than 30K but that’s on a low end. More like 6 months.

What book or books do you plan on promoting during your paranormal themed day takeover?
After Midnight and the City of Sin collection.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice when it came to being an author what would you say and why?
Start sooner.
