Paranormal/Fantasy Author Patrick O’Scheen – Book Elves Event Interview

Here is the interview that I did with Patrick O’Scheen and his Cat for the Book Elves on the Shelves Event! He will be taking over on Nov. 30th 2-4pm CENTRAL so make sure to stop by and say hi to him and Charles the cat!

What is your current “work in progress”?
I am an Indie author. I prefer to remain in full control of my options. Publishers seem to do little and ask much.

How many books do you currently have out and titles if you would like?
My current WIP is entitled Newling Traveler. I am expecting to release this YA novel in January 2015 or early February. It will join my book self that currently includes four titles: Dreamer, Seer and Dancer are parts of an epic fantasy series called the Chronicles of Marithe. Kris is a Christmas mystery that includes Charles the cat.

What one character from your book or books do you connect with most and why?
I connect with all my characters in some way, and they are each a part of me. I am most fond of Thornton from the Marithe series.  I believe he epitomizes characteristics that I would like to find in myself.

Being that this event is for the Christmas Season do you have any special traditions that you would like to share with us?
Personally, Christmas is very special for me. It marks the completion of another year, as well as sings to me of joy and peace in the hearts of many who would otherwise suppress the emotions. I like traditional Christmas decorations and activities… including my wreath made of plastic dragons and my tree decorations depicting cats. There are never enough dragons in any holiday!!

What is your favorite Christmas dessert?
My favorite yuletide desert is tuna surprise…and anything laced with catnip.

What is the worst gift that you have ever received for Christmas?
The worst gift I have ever received had to be that one year when all the toy mice were sold out…

Who is your favorite author and or favorite book?
I have too many favorite books to name only one.

If you had to describe yourself in three words what would they be?
The three words to describe me would be grey-stripped short-haired meow.

What are your thoughts on being apart of the upcoming Book Elves on the Shelves event?
Humans need to let cats take over more things.  The world would be a better place.
