Here is the interview that I did with Paranormal Romance author Mindy Larson for the Book Elves on the Shelves Event! Come hang out and have some fun with us as she takes over on Nov. 29th from 3-5pm CENTRAL.
Are you an indie author or with a publisher and what do you find the pros and cons to be for each?
I’m an indie gone published! I was indie for about six months, after spending more time marketing than writing, I I realized I needed a professional. Luckily I found Michelle at Lavish Publishing LLC, a new indie publishing company. I’ve never looked back. She helps with formatting, editing, my covers, marketing ideas, plot ideas, the list goes on and on! I think the more people I have helping me, the better! But like anything in life, you have to do whats best for you.
What is your current “work in progress”?
I’m getting ready to release the third and final in my Pre-Earth series, entitled No One Gets Out Alive.. I also started a brand new paranormal romance book called, Dream A Little Dream. It’ll be a stand alone. Or maybe a series. I haven’t decided yet. In it you’ll meet Emma, Hudson, Savannah and Harrison.. Its just you’re typical girl meets boy. Girl dies. Girl lives again. Boy dies. Boy haunts girl in her dreams love/ghost story! I hope to have it out in summer/fall of 2015
How many books do you currently have out and titles if you would like?
Three. The Beginning of The End, This Morning I Woke Up Dead, and Wake Up! We’re No Longer Dead
What one character from your book or books do you connect with most and why?
Depending on the day, I will answer this differently.. All of my characters have bits of me sprinkled in them. Hadlley and Logan’s rebellious tendacies. Dominic and Emerson’s caring, loving, and nuturing side, and Piper’s shyness, desire to fit in, and her mad baking skills. Sorry but I can’t really pick a favorite character! It would be like picking my favorite child, or favorite dessert! I love them all!
Being that this event is for the Christmas Season do you have any special traditions that you would like to share with us?
Getting new pajamas on Christmas eve, elf on the shelf, driving around and looking at christmas lights, and watching christmas movies while wrapping presents
What is your favorite Christmas dessert?
Snow balls! They’re scoops of vanilla ice cream coated in coconut flakes, drizzled with hot fudge sauce, and a cherry on top! My grandma always made these and so does my mom.
What is the worst gift that you have ever received for Christmas?
Instead of the worst thing I ever got, I’m going to tell you the best. A new house!
Who is your favorite author and or favorite book?
Kate Morton, Alice Hoffman, Anne Rice, and Jane Austen. And fav books are The Forgotten Garden, Gone Girl, The Alcehmist, The Secret, The Remembrance, Night Circus, and The Discovery of witches just to name a few…
If you had to describe yourself in three words what would they be?
Imaginative, caring, persistent
What are your thoughts on being apart of the upcoming Book Elves on the Shelves event?
I’m looking forward to it! I love meeting new people and chatting about a few of my favorite things: books, reading and writing! I never know how these type of things are going to go and I’ll admit, I always get a little nervous before they start, what if no one comments Ib my posts? What if no one has read my books? What if, what if, what if?? It’s silly though, honestly, these events just keep getting better and better!
