Paranormal Romance Author Hailey Edwards – Book Elves Event Interview

Here is the interview that I did with Hailey Edwards for the Book Elves on the Shelves Event. Her takeover will take place on Dec. 17th 5-7pm CENTRAL so make sure to stop by and say hi!

Are you an indie author or with a publisher and what do you find the pros and cons to be for each?
I’m a hybrid author. I’m published with Samhain Publishing and Hachette in addition to my self-published work. I like to think it’s the best of both worlds. The resources of a publisher and the flexibility of making my own publishing decisions.

What is your current “work in progress”?
My current project is the fourth and final book in the Black Dog series: Old Dog, New Tricks.

How many books do you currently have out and titles if you would like?
I have thirteen published titles currently with four more scheduled for next year.

What one character from your book or books do you connect with most and why?
I connect most with Vaughn, the hero from A Feast of Souls. He’s very matter-of-fact and I like that. He sees a problem, and he handles it. No muss, no fuss.

Being that this event is for the Christmas Season do you have any special traditions that you would like to share with us?
My family started doing the Twelve Days of Crappy Christmas with my daughter, my niece and nephew. It started out as a joke one year when the kids were begging to open presents early, but they loved it and now it’s a family tradition. Crappy Christmas gifts are small, can’t cost more than a dollar, and they’ve got to be nutty. The crazier the better. And the kids get to open one for each of the twelve days of Christmas.

What is your favorite Christmas dessert?
Lemon Icebox Pie

What is the worst gift that you have ever received for Christmas?
I’m pretty easy to please. I did, however, have to return a bath gift set one year because it contained ingredients I’m allergic to.

Who is your favorite author and or favorite book?
My answer changes daily. Old favorites are Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson series, Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files and Ilona Andrews’s Kate Daniels series.

If you had to describe yourself in three words what would they be?
Caffeinated. Weird. Crazy.

What are your thoughts on being a part of the upcoming Book Elves on the Shelves event?
‘m excited to meet new readers and chat books with other bibliophiles.
