Paranormal Author Rebekah R. Ganiere – Book Elves Event Interview

Here is my interview with Rebekah R. Ganiere for the Book Elves on the Shelves Event. Her takeover will take place on Dec. 4th 4-6pm CENTRAL so make sure to stop by!

Are you an indie author or with a publisher and what do you find the pros and cons to be for each?
I’m both. I have a series I am self publishing. I have my first book with a  small indie press and I have a series with Kensington. There have been pros and cons to all. I must say, of the three, I preferred the small indie press the least. I like having control of my content and covers with my self pub but I like the free editing and help I get from my big publisher. I like that my books are on my timeline with self publishing as well, since I am a SAHM of 4 kids which I homeschool as well as run around. So we’re pretty busy. But I hate marketing, so I like that my publisher helps with that.

What is your current “work in progress”?
I am currently working on 2 projects. The second book in my series with Kensington and my 3rd book in my self published Fairytale Retelling series. That one is called Zelle and the Tower. It’s the retelling of Rapunzel.

How many books do you currently have out and titles if you would like?
I currently have 6 titles out. I just started publishing this year, so that makes me pretty happy! My first book was Dead Awakenings. Then I have two books and a novella for my Fairelle Series. Red the Were Hunter, Snow the Vampire Slayer and Jamen’s Yuletide Bride. Which will be FREE on Dec. 3rd and 4th on Amazon because it’s my birthday!!! I also have a fun Christmas novella for .99 called Saving Christmas. And my Kensington release Reign of the Vampires.

What one character from your book or books do you connect with most and why?
Connect with? I don’t know. I connect with all of my females. I couldn’t write them if I didn’t and they all have piece of me in them. However, Sage, my Vampire Hero from Snow the Vampire Slayer is my favorite 🙂

Being that this event is for the Christmas Season do you have any special traditions that you would like to share with us?
My mother is Jewish, converted to Christianity, so we celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas which is wonderful. On Christmas eve we watch Christmas movies and stay up late. On Christmas morning we read the Christmas Story from the Bible and then open presents. We go to my parent’s for Christmas and just spend time with family.

What is your favorite Christmas dessert?
Caramels. I loooooooove Caramels! Homemade! I don’t like Chocolate so last year I decided to make some caramels and it took forever but they were amazing!

What is the worst gift that you have ever received for Christmas?
Hmmm…nothing. Yup. There have been years that I’ve gotten nothing before. That hurts. And it wasn’t because we didn’t have money. That I could deal with.

Who is your favorite author and or favorite book?
Man, I have several. Alice in Wonderland, Pillars of the Earth, Shakespeare, Poe, The Hobbit, The Wizard of Oz.

If you had to describe yourself in three words what would they be?
Stubborn, Loving, Eccentric.

What are your thoughts on being apart of the upcoming Book Elves on the Shelves event?
I think it’s great. I love being able to meet new authors and readers and I think it’s amazing the time and effort that goes into preparing these events. So fun!
