I just completed my interview with the lovely V. Cantrell who is the author of the Divine Merit series. I absolutely loved her writing and can’t wait to read more from her. Thank you for taking the time to do the interview with me. You can check out the book review that I did on the first book in the series by clicking HERE!
What was your inspiration for writing Divine Merit?
A good friend had been encouraging me to have goals and to explore my passion for books by trying to write. One day I was mowing my lawn, listening to my iPod, and the beginning scene of Divine Merit began playing in my head. Caeden was suddenly there, and if you’ve read Divine Merit, you know he was super frustrated at that time. And he stayed frustrated and pacing around in my brain until I began to put it all down on paper.
Who is your biggest supporter and why?
My friends from the JL McCoy Facebook page: Jenn and Jax. They encouraged me, allowed me to bounce ideas off them, nagged me when I stopped writing, and read everything I wrote as I went along. These ladies are amazing and talented in their own right, and have been unbelievably generous and selfless in supporting me.
What is the most difficult thing about being a writer?
Finding the time to sit and actually write without letting life get in the way. There always seems to be a billion and one things I should be doing.
How did you hear about OddityReviews.com?
My lovely friend Jax tagged me in a Facebook post looking for paranormal authors. (See, she’s such a great friend and supporter!)
What is your favorite genre to read?
Any type of romance. I live for the happily-ever-after. But I have to admit, I’m a sucker for an alpha male, bad boy.
Who is you favorite author and how have they inspired you?
Ahh!! I love asking this question, but I hate answering it. I have so many that I adore. This may sound weird, but if I can only choose one, I’d have to say Dr. Seuss. How has he inspired me? Have you ever read Oh, the places you’ll go!? You should.
What three words would you choose to define the book Divine Merit?
Unique, adventure, and self-discovery
Are you currently working on any other projects that you would like to share with us?
My next project is the second book in the Divine Series. The working title is Divine Dignity and it will be the story of Inaya and Trevin.
What advice would you give to other authors that are just starting out?
If this is something you really want, don’t let life get in the way. Make time to write every day, even if it’s just a sentence or two.
