How did you come up with the idea for the Guardians series and how many books do you currently see being in the series?
I actually got the idea for the Guardian series from a dream when I was in high school. It stuck with me until I wrote it down.

When can we expect to see book 3 in the Guardians series?
By August 2014. I’m finishing the rough draft up now and will be working on revising it in the next week. Then, to the editors 🙂

Who did the covers for your Guardians Series?
Ida Jansson with Amygdala Designs. She does such an amazing job with the colors. I love it!

I know that you have written other books in different genres so do you find writing paranormal easier or more challenging than the other stuff that you have written in the past?
Truth be told, I find paranormal harder. I’m not sure why, maybe because I have all these different plots and themes going on. Romance was definitely easier, flowed better for me.

What is the most difficult thing about being an author?
I would have to say the most difficult thing about being an author is spending so much time with the books, writing and editing and basically putting out your heart and soul for other people to read and criticize. It’s like dropping off your kid for the first day of kindergarten. You want them to do great and you know that you have to let them go to do that.

Who is your biggest supporter when it comes to your writing?
This is a tough one. Before I met my husband, it was my best friend, Nina. After I met him, they come in for a tie. 🙂 Nina spent hours of her time every night reading and critiquing for me. My husband was the one to push me to publish when I did.

Are you currently working on anything else in the paranormal genre that you would like to share with us?
I am writing a New Adult paranormal titled Echoes. The main character, Scarlet, has the ability to read peoples’ memories. All her life she believed she was crazy until she is approached by The Grant Corporation, a business full of people with Gifts like her. She’s introduced to a whole new world and a sexy werewolf named Jake.
What one character from all of your books do you connect with the most and why?
Aidan, from The Guardian trilogy because he eats. ALL THE TIME. Like me. And he’s sarcastic and holds all the emotions in until he explodes.

Do you have a favorite author and how have they inspired the writer that you are today?
Oh wow, my favorite author of all time is Nora Roberts. I love how real her characters are and how her sentences and pages just flow. I will read anything she puts out without looking twice.

What advice would you give to new authors that are just starting out?
Don’t give up. No matter how you feel about it, how much you think it sucks, because in a few days you won’t feel the same. We all get that feeling, and we move past it. For the most part, the author community cares about each other and helps you get a leg up. I’ve met some fantastic girls on this journey!! Oh, and definitely research the business as much as you can. If you mess up, own up to it and move on. It’s the best journey I’ve been on! 🙂
