I recently had the pleasure of reading the book Illusions Begin by N.L. Greene and completing this interview with her that was definitely fun as shes an intriguing author. Thank you for taking the time to do the interview with us and I look forward to reading more of your work in the future. Click HERE to read the book review that I did on Illusions Begin.
Check out the books that we have listed by her here: Magic
Is Illusions Begin your first book and how long did it take you to write it?
No, it isn’t. I co-wrote a YA series with a friend under the name Riana Lucas and then I wrote Twisted (which was the first under my name) in September 2013. Illusions Begin was my second on my own and it took about 3 months from start to finish.
What was your inspiration for Illusions Begin?
I was watching a movie about magicians and there was a female one, which isn’t usual. So I started thinking about a female magician, which led to magic and the then the story just started writing itself.
I see that Illusions Begin is part of The Mystic Seeker Series so when can we except to see book 2 in the series and do you have any clue how many books may be in the series total?
Book 2, Magic Unfolds, will be out April 18, 2014 and there will be one more book in the series which is set to be released in July 2014.
Who is your biggest supporter and why?
My husband. He lets me bounce ideas off of him, he tells me when they aren’t good enough, and he works really hard so I can stay home and pursue my dream.
Has anyone else helped to contribute to the finished product of “Illusions Begin”?
Oh yeah!! My best friend who is also my editor, Carie. As well as my good friend Mariah who has been a huge help in the entire series. Then of course there is the amazing Kelsey Keeton who took the photos and designed the cover for all the books!
Have you ever written any other books besides this?
Yes, I wrote a YA Fantasy series about Faeries called The Deadly Flowers Series by Riana Lucas (pen name) and then I wrote Twisted which is a YA/NA contemporary book about bullying with the dynamic of a BFF relationship.
Can you share a couple things about you that may surprise your readers?
Umm, well…my book Twisted is based on my personal experiences as a teen, I get really nervous when I have to speak in front of people but I’ll talk your ear off if I’m not the center of attention, and my husband and I have been friends since the 7th grade.
Who is your favorite author and why?
Kim Harrison for adult and Richelle Mead for YA. They both are amazing writers that have a way of pulling you into their world. I can’t ever put their books down!
What would you say the hardest thing about being a writer is?
The marketing. When you first start out, no one knows you and it’s a lot of work to get your name out there and get people to trust in your work.
As an author what advice would you give other individuals that are looking to become published authors as well?
Just do it. Don’t wait for someone to tell you if you’re good enough or not because you are! Write your book, publish your work, and keep doing it!
