Ann Gimpel

I just completed my interview with the talented author – Ann Gimpel. Thank you for taking the time to do the interview and look forward to you being a part of the upcoming takeover for Witchy Wednesday!!!

What inspired you to write a witchy related book?
There are as many kinds of witches as there are authors who write about them. So far, I’ve written four novels featuring witches and a 10K word short story published by Musa. One of my witch books, Blood and Magic, is a historical with steampunk overtones. It takes place in the middle of the 19th century and it developed because one of my publishers read a short story I’d written and suggested I build a book around it. The Witch Chronicles books (Witch’s Bounty, Witch’s Bane, and Witches Rule) came from a dream I had about three witches and a changeling familiar.

Do you have a favorite witch movie or tv show?
Not really.

If you could cast a single spell on someone who would it be and what would the spell consist of?
I’d cast a spell on the world and make everyone more cognizant we have limited resources and shouldn’t squander them.

What is your favorite paranormal creature and why?
Dragons. They’re beautiful, magical, powerful, and they can fly! I’d love to ride one.

If you were a witch and had to have a familiar but it could not be the typical cat what animal would you choose?
One like Colleen’s in the Witch Chronicles series. Niall is an Irish changeling. In his true form, he looks like a gnome, but he’s a shapeshifter and spends time as a cat and also mimics demonic creatures as he battles evil side by side with Colleen.

What is the name of your witch book/books and your pen name?
I don’t have a pen name. By the time I began writing, I already had a web presence and didn’t want to start from scratch building it up all over again. My witch books are Blood and Magic, Witch’s Bounty, Witch’s Bane, and Witches Rule (November release). The short story is A Matter of Honor.

Do you have a favorite witch book other than your own?
The Hornsgate Witch series by Diana Francis

If your witch book was to be turned into a movie who would be casted as your main characters?
Have not got clue one. Sorry! Too busy writing to watch many movies. Snort. Jensen Ackles would make a great Ronin, though in Witch’s Bane! He’s got just the right mix of sex and attitude.

If you could put a curse on someone who has done you wrong in the past what would the curse entail?
Interesting question, but I don’t believe in revenge. I’d much rather put my energy in positive directions.

When it comes to the witches in your book please give me three words to describe them including looks, characteristics or even just the type of witch they are.
Kickass, tall, competent
