Author Interview – Megan White

71LNDKcFGTL._UX250_Check out the interview that we just completed with talented Dystopian author Megan White. We got her to dish out some info on her Supremacy Series which currently has two books in the series. The first book is titled The Supremacy and book two is The Keeper! Thank you Megan for taking the time to do the interview with us and we wish you nothing but success.

What inspired you to write The Supremacy series?
It is always hard to talk about the book without spoiling it, but I’ll try my best! The Supremacy has a very basic premise written in a very complex way. Who are we and what makes us, as humans, better than another species? There was one quote that really grabbed my attention when I first started the beginning drafts of the first book, “If you are not outraged, you are not paying attention.” Many have said The Supremacy was too gory, more like a horror novel than a dystopian novel, and that was the point. I wanted readers to be appalled by what they were reading because, even though it doesn’t happen to us (humans), every scene in the book does happen, every day, not to us, but by us.

Besides The Supremacy Series, do you have any other books out?
I do! My first series, Parish Secrets, is a YA paranormal series that follows a young girl on her journey of not only finding out who she is, but what she is.

How much has dystopian books influenced your thoughts/life?
I feel paranoid 90% of the time, and I swear I’m on every watch-list the gov’t has. I’m constantly talking about the gov’t, big pharma, Monsanto, etc. and am fully convinced they’re trying to kill us all. Basically, this genre has driven me absolutely crazy.

Who’s your greatest supporter?
My husband is definitely my biggest supporter, and I will be forever grateful that I found a partner that lifts me up when sometimes it feels like I can barely crawl.

With so many dystopian books out now, what do you think makes yours stick out and read worthy?
I’m not entirely sure. There are hundreds of amazing works in this genre that are a thousand times better than mine, and knowing that, I am eternally thankful that anyone would take the time to pick up one of my books and give it a shot.

Could you see yourself being a Tester in The Supremacy?
God, I hope not! But as a writers, we have to immerse ourselves in our created world(s) and step into the shoes of every character we carve. While working on The Supremacy, I became Erin and every Tester that was forced to live that life—for however long they were allowed to live.

Your favorite book?
No surprised here, my all-time-favorite book is 1984 by George Orwell; with a close second being I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier. I enjoy books that can both scare me to death, and keep me on my toes.

Are you working on anything currently?

Yes! I am working on The Gathering which is the final book in The Supremacy series, as well as a secret work-in-progress in a genre that I have never written in before

Any words of wisdom you want to share?
If you have a dream, never stop chasing it, even if you have to journey through the darkest corners, or face the deadliest of enemies. It’s better to look back and say that you gave it your all than look back and wish that you had.

Thank you so much for the chance to interview with Oddity Reviews!
